Black Algae
Black Algae - Black algae is the toughest of them all.
We find it most often in plaster pools. It starts out as small black
spots and then grows and grows to bigger areas. Heavy shock
treatments and sprinkling Shock Treatment right on the spots is
sometimes very effective and you can use a concentrated algaecide
such as Family Pools Poly 60 to help prevent further growth.
However, if the algae is not totally disappearing then we
recommend Proteam Supreme to rid your pool of it for good. Black
Algae is extremely resistant. Proteam Supreme will reduce the amount
of carbon dioxide in your water literally starving the algae. It may
take a couple weeks to kill it all but it should, eventually, clear
your pool.
The Proteam Supreme will then stay in your pool water until it is
diluted out. It is a great water enhancer and will help you to
maintain your pool with lower chlorine or bromine levels.
